Volunteer Eligibility Requirements

 

Step One:

 

All persons who want to become a volunteer at Eastern State Hospital must do the following complete and submit an application.

 

Step Two:

Once the application has been received and reviewed the applicant will be contacted by the Volunteer Services Coordinator to schedule an

Interview and to schedule an appointment to complete a criminal history and a finger printing application in addition to a drug screen. *

 

Step Three:

Applicants must also do the following:

·         Participate in and complete volunteer orientation.

·         Accept on-going training and supervision.

·         Follow all rules and policies of Eastern State Hospital

and the Volunteer Services   Department.

               

*Applicants must complete and pass all of the required

pre-screening testing,

Volunteer Opportunities

There are as many reasons to volunteer, as there are volunteers. Volunteering at Eastern State Hospital will give you a true sense of self-worth while helping to make a difference in the lives of many people. There are many volunteer positions at Eastern State Hospital, which provide volunteers with meaningful opportunities to participate in direct and indirect care. Volunteers are given the opportunity to volunteer according to their availability.

Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to Direct Care positions such as Chaplaincy Services, Therapeutic Pet Services, One-to-One Focused Friends, Group Therapy Assistant, Activity Assistant and more!  Indirect Care positions include Pharmacy Assistant, Medical Records, Volunteer Office Assistant and other indirect care positions. Local community and other area businesses, churches, schools, veterans, and other groups work diligently to help provide for the personal needs of the patients through monetary contributions, Holiday and other in-kind donations throughout the year.
